The Carriage Lamp is a small oil lantern in red enamel and brass: three glass panels in brass frames, a vented brass cap, a bail handle, and a domed brass foot. Inside is the original burner with a wick still in it and a pressed metal reflector stamped with stars at the back. The red has a little wear at the corners and the brass is soft gold rather than shiny. Not tested with oil; buy it as a shelf piece, or have the burner looked at before you light it. No maker's mark.
