The Orchard Pair — 1950s Porcelain Mini Pitchers

The Orchard Pair are a matched set of miniature porcelain pitchers, three inches of full formality — scalloped rococo rims, gold-gilded handles, and a hand-finished still life of plums, pears, and apples on soft cream. They were made in the fifties in the old Bavarian style, scaled down for tea trays and curio shelves, and somebody's grandmother kept potpourri in one for decades — we found them fragrant and gave them a fresh start.

Bud vases, cream and honey at a fall brunch, or a pair on the shelf catching the light off that gilt.
