The Marigold was somebody's biscuit tin, or tea tin, or candy tin — and then, the way it always went, she was too beautiful to throw away. She's a Daher piece, designed in Long Island in the early seventies and lithographed in England or Holland, eight-sided and covered edge to edge in tapestry marigolds, chrysanthemums, and autumn leaves in full harvest gold. Half a century of homemakers kept tins exactly like her for buttons and recipes; that's why she survived.
Fill her with matches, tea bags, or the small things that need a beautiful home — she's been doing this job since Nixon.
About 5 × 4 inches, 4 inches deep.
