The Land Camera is where “instant” was invented. Before anyone shook a Polaroid picture, they pulled one out of this — a folding packfilm camera with an electric eye that read the light for you and real glass up front, Polaroid’s flagship from 1963 to 1966. Edwin Land put his own name on it. It was the smartest thing at any picnic it ever attended.
This one has kept herself remarkably well: sharp gray body, hardshell cover, original leather neck strap still attached — and inside, a battery compartment completely free of corrosion, which for these is the difference between a shelf piece and a survivor. She unfolds like the Vigilant, all bellows and struts, but with that unmistakable mid-century silver face.
