The Flashcube — 1960s Kodak with Original Flashcube Winder

The Flashcube is what 1965 looked like: brushed aluminum, red badge, a wind lever that cocks a little clockwork spring inside. That spring still does what it was built for — advance the film, spin the flashcube around, ready for the next one. Point-and-shoot before anyone called it that. Kodak sold tens of millions of these; whole family albums exist because of them.

This one’s clean and bright, faceplates unscratched — and inside, still in its compartment, sits an original Eveready photo battery, kept safe all these years without a hint of corrosion. Sometimes a piece hangs onto its own little time capsule.
